In our every day consciousness a tree is a tree. Fascinated by stories and books about nature spirits as well as a unique experience with a tree being, I began in my work as a photographer to depict trees in such a way, that faces become perceptible within them. To even further connect human beings with the trees, I began to join tree and personal portrait. In the year 2000 our first child, Estelle, passed over in my arms three days after her birth. She connected me even more deeply to the mystery of life and death. Very ancient trees carry the knowledge about this same mystery within them and, within a different time frame, have learned a lot from life and death. They are the lungs of the earth and Estelles lungs were misshaped. To me this came as a symbol that earth calls out to us humans that we might begin to pay more attention to and respect more deeply again the lost awareness that beyond matter soul is to be found. It is my aim within this new age to open the door to the other world by means of the tree pictures and to provide the viewer with a possibility to communicate with other worlds. My work also is about my esteem and gratitude for the beauty and elevation of the trees and their beingness.
